NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, a statewide, non-profit pro-choice organization and affiliate of NARAL Pro-Choice America, seeks a Communications Intern for fall 2010. Learn about the day-to-day activities of a professional non-profit communications program. Perfect for someone interested in political communications and online advocacy. We are looking for candidates who possess the following: A commitment to reproductive rights and the mission of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts Strong written communication skills Experience using desktop publishing software and online communication tools A commitment to diversity An ability to work well independently and as part of a team A willingness to learn, flexibility, and reliability Responsibilities:
Web 2.0 Facebook and Twitter: Maintain our presence on these key social networking sites by updating content and increasing the size of our following Blogging: Write regular blog postings to be published on various online sites Flickr: Post photos to our Flickr account and find ways to promote our Flickr page Website Review and update content throughout our website Draft new topic issue briefs and update previously posted ones Develop strategies to promote website to attract more visitors
Email Alerts Help draft and edit alerts Input new names and email addresses into the system; ensure data integrity Work with our National organization to test new strategies Print Materials Help produce any hardcopy publications that we may produce during the internship Edit direct mail copy, grant applications and reports, and major donor materials Time Commitment/Compensation: Approximately 10 to 20 hours per week (flexible).
