NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, a statewide, non-profit pro-choice organization and affiliate of NARAL Pro-Choice America, works to elect pro-choice candidates to office to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive health choices. Support the Political Department by monitoring and working on elections and assisting staff with other tasks as needed.

 

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
• A commitment to reproductive rights and NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts’ mission
• A commitment to diversity
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• An ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• A willingness to learn, flexibility and reliability
• Experience with campus, community, and/or political organizing

 

Responsibilities:
Campaign Interns will be dispatched to target districts to assist the election efforts of State Representative and State Senate candidates endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts.
• Canvassing, phone banking
• Helping the campaigns with written and mailed communications
• Data entry and answering phones
• Other projects and tasks as needed

 

Time Commitment/Compensation:
Approximately 10 to 25 hours per week (flexible). This is an unpaid internship.

This is an exciting opportunity for students interested in working to further reproductive rights for the women of Massachusetts by directly engaging with our members and working on pro-choice political campaigns.

 

Campaign/Outreach interns will play a key role in educating voters and mobilizing our members to get involved with pro-choice political campaigns and to vote for pro-choice candidates here in the Commonwealth. Interns will also have the opportunity to work on campaigns in Massachusetts.

Interns will spend some of their time in target districts to assist the election efforts of state Representative and Senate candidates endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts.

• Data entry and answering phones
• Help research, reserve, and be present at tabling events
• Assist in organizing and staffing pro-choice social and academic events in order to educate and recruit new members and volunteers
• Participating in orientations, activities, and enrichment opportunities with other interns and volunteers
• Other projects and tasks as needed

 

Time Commitment/Compensation:
Approximately 15 to 30 hours per week (flexible), but will include occasional nights and weekends. This is an unpaid internship.

• Facebook and Twitter: Maintain our presence on these key social networking sites by updating content and increasing our numbers of supporters
• Blogging: Write regular blog postings to be published on various online sites
• Flickr: Post photos to our Flickr account and find ways to promote our Flickr page
Website
• Review and update content throughout our website
• Draft new topic issue briefs and update previously posted ones
• Develop strategies to promote website to attract more visitors
Email Alerts
• Help draft and edit alerts
• Input new names and email addresses into the system; ensure data integrity
• Work with our National organization to test new strategies
Print Materials
• Help produce any hardcopy publications that we may produce during the internship
• Edit direct mail copy, grant applications and reports, and major donor materials
