An Evening with Secretary of Health and Human Services JudyAnn Bigby
The new Secretary of Health and Human Services of Massachusetts, Dr. JudyAnn Bigby, spoke at the NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts 2007 Annual Meeting on March 27, held at the Law Offices of Holland + Knight in Boston. Dr. Bigby has spent her career addressing health care disparities and the needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. With increased federal restrictions on family planning services that disproportionately affect women of color and low-income women, we are privileged to have her join us for this event. She addressed a packed room of prochoice supporters and activists who were eager to learn how the new Patrick Administration will address issues of reproductive health. Secretary Bigby discussed ethnic and racial health care disparities and the needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. She also stressed the importance of a holistic approach to women’s health. In addition, NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts honored the new Pro-Choice Legislators who were elected last fall. Rep. Marty Walz (D-Boston), a member of the Board, highlighted the role that NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts played in the recent elections, which expanded the pro-choice majority on Beacon Hill.
Current members elected the 2007 Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting.
