Celebrating Roe in Amherst - 2010
Roe v. Wade: Protecting Privacy, Preserving Choice is an annual event in Western Massachusetts that benefits NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, as well as our two co-hosts: the Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts and Tapestry Health Systems. On February 6, 2010, we were excited to welcome Miranda Balkin, President of Medical Students for Choice, as our featured speaker for our 2010 event. Miranda is a fourth year medical student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in physics and women's studies at Oberlin College and worked as a rape counselor and a global health consultant before going to medical school. She lives with her family in New York City and is a future family doctor. We were also delighted to honor State Senator Stanley Rosenberg (D-Amherst) with the annual Reproductive Freedom Award. Sen. Rosenberg has been a stalwart supporter of women’s reproductive rights for his entire public career and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to honor him.
