Tell a Friend about Emergency Contraception
Spread the word about Emergency Contraception (EC)! You'll be able to email your friends, family members, and co-workers once you sign the pledge below. Make sure your sister, daughter, niece, or nephew knows about EC. Emergency contraception (also known as EC, the "morning-after pill," or Plan B®) is a type of birth control pill that you can take to prevent pregnancy after sex. EC is not an abortion pill and will not work if a woman is already pregnant. Did you know? There are three million unintended pregnancies each year in the U.S. EC can be used up to five days after unprotected sex. But the sooner you take EC, the better it works. You can get EC to keep at home in case you need it later. If you are over 18, you can buy it directly from the pharmacist at most drug stores. If you are under 18, you can get a prescription from your doctor or health care provider. EC is safe to use multiple times, even within the same menstrual cycle. However, for regular ongoing use, other forms of birth control (like condoms or "the pill") work better.
