Abstinence-Only Education
Supporters of comprehensive sexuality education oppose the use of federal abstinence-only funds in classroom-based programs and to reject future federal abstinence-only funding. Abstinence-only classroom programs are dangerous. They often communicate medically inaccurate, harmful, misleading, and judgmental information to teenagers. In 2007, the federal government made three major changes to its guidelines on abstinence-only programming that raise substantial concerns.
