Chocolate Madness
Boston Area Restaurants and Pastry Chefs to Compete in Premier Chocolate Event

Boston, MA – On Tuesday, April 13 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. more than five hundred pro-choice chocolate lovers will gather at the Cyclorama in Boston’s South End to enjoy chocolate desserts prepared and donated by 30 of Boston’s finest restaurants and bakeries. Chocolate Madness – a benefit for NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts – will also include two dozen Celebrity Judges, local food writers, chefs, philanthropists and elected officials who will select the best desserts in five competitive categories. Prizes will be awarded to the winning pastry chefs and restaurants.

Participating pastry chefs include Rossanna Diaz of l‘Espalier, Kristin Murray of No. 9 Park, Molly Hanson of Grill 23 and Bar, Rodrigo Frasson of Trio, James Condon of Icarus, Peter Merrill of Sel de la Terre, and Jorg Amsler of Truly Jorg’s among others. Olives, Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro, LA Burdick Chocolate, Rosie’s Bakery and Union Bar & Grill are among our participating restaurants.

Celebrity Judges include novelist and poet Marge Piercy, Lora Brody, author of Chocolate American Style, pastry chef Ursula Argyropoulos of Ursula: Art of the Cake, pastry chef Lee Napoli and Roberta Dowling of the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts. Other judges include Boston area philanthropists and pro-choice elected officials. Live jazz will be provided by James Merenda’s Masked Marvels.

Pastry chefs and celebrity judges are available for pre-event interviews and appearances. Proceeds from Chocolate Madness benefit NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts’ programs to protect and expand access to reproductive health care services in Massachusetts.

WHAT: 21st Annual Chocolate Madness, featuring chocolate desserts prepared and donated by Boston’s leading restaurants and pastry chefs who will compete in five dessert categories. More than 500 guests will gather for a chocolate feast and live jazz. Proceeds support NARAL's programs to protect and expand reproductive choice.
