Romney Won't Seek Second Term

Synopsis: Statement of Melissa Kogut in response to the announcement that Governor Mitt Romney will not seek a new term.

Gov. Romney Chooses Not to Seek Second Term;
Advocates Stress Need for Pro-Choice Governor

Boston, MA-“Governor Romney knows that the voters of the Commonwealth won’t reward him with a second term. His veto of a bill to provide rape survivors with access to Emergency Contraception demonstrates that he is out of step with the needs of Massachusetts women and families,” said Melissa Kogut, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts.

“Massachusetts voters have been disappointed in Romney’s inconsistency and lack of leadership on critical issues like comprehensive sexuality education in our schools and access to contraception. We look forward to working to elect a strong pro-choice Governor who will show steadfast leadership and who shares the Massachusetts values of freedom, responsibility and privacy -- including a woman’s right to choose.”
