Boston, MA – Andrea Miller, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, issued the following statement today:

 

Yesterday’s NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC endorsement of Senator Barack Obama has generated a strong response from supporters of both Democratic presidential contenders. We at NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts believe that the nation has been fortunate to have two pro-choice candidates – Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama – vying for that party’s nomination.

 

NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts focuses on races here in the Commonwealth. We have no consultation role in the decisions of the NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC – the only entity authorized to make federal endorsements. The two organizations have separate and distinct governing and financial structures.

 

NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts will not endorse a candidate in the presidential primary. We will continue working hard to protect our slim pro-choice majority here in the state House of Representatives. And we are grateful to the pro-choice citizens of the Commonwealth for their support of our efforts at the state level to protect privacy and promote reproductive health.
