NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts Statement on Tuesday’s Election Results

BOSTON, MA – Christian Miron, deputy director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, released the following statement on the results of this Tuesday’s election:

"The election of Donald Trump to the highest office in America is nothing if not a call to action in the movement for reproductive freedom. It’s important to remember that our work to advance reproductive rights did not start with this election, and it was never going to end with this election,” said Miron. "NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts was founded before Roe v. Wade made abortion legal in Massachusetts. We have been fighting ever since, and we are not stopping now.”

"We know that battles for reproductive freedom are won – and lost – at the state level. And that continues to be true. In the face of anti-choice threats at the federal level, NARAL’s work here in Massachusetts to elect champions for reproductive freedom is more urgent than ever. We congratulate all NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC endorsed candidates for their victories Tuesday, and for running strong, grassroots campaigns. Overall, Massachusetts voters sent the clear message that they want genuine reproductive rights advocates on Beacon Hill who will work tirelessly to advance policies in support of their pro-choice values.”

NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts members and volunteers knocked on over 14,000 doors in support of their endorsed candidates.

"As we prepare for an unprecedented challenge to reproductive rights on a national level, the results of these races offer undeniable proof that when given the opportunity, Massachusetts voters will support the candidates who will fight to ensure access to the full range of reproductive health care options, including abortion. Now more than ever, we need these leaders as allies in the State House as we face the clear and present threat of a new all-out assault on reproductive rights at the federal level,” said Miron.
