Political Program
NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, the political arm of the pro-choice movement, mobilizes hundreds of supporters across the state to get involved in the political process. Our political activities range from lobbying legislators to support or oppose legislation to working on campaigns in order to increase the number of pro-choice legislators representing you at the State House. It is an important time to be focused on choice. At the national level, the damage of the Bush Administration and its anti-choice allies will last long after his term expires. On April 18, 2007, the Supreme Court upheld President Bush’s Federal Abortion Ban with no exception for when a woman’s health is in danger. This decision will and has already affected women across the nation and will trump Massachusetts laws that have protected reproductive freedom for years. This decision is the latest in many attacks to undermine the fundamental rights established by Roe v. Wade. However, the voters spoke in 2006 and made it clear that they support choice at the state and federal level. We are excited to work with all of you in 2008 in order to protect our pro-choice electoral gains from 2006 and 2007, and to elect more pro-choice politicians to office.
